10,000 hours to become pro? Yeah right
I’m 14 years old, in 8th grade, and I recently hit the 10,000-hour mark in golf. While I’ve definitely played far more than that over my life, I set a goal to really commit by spending 5 hours at the course every day and playing 18 holes three times a week to keep my handicap accurate.
This experience has given me a massive amount of knowledge and insight into my game. The whole “10,000 hours to mastery” concept is often debated, but I’d say it’s more like 10,000 hours to really know if you have the potential to go pro — and way more to become truly great. Some estimates say 50,000 to 100,000 hours for mastery in sports like golf, which feels about right.
I’m definitely a lot better than I was when I started, but I also understand just how much more work it’ll take to reach the top. For anyone curious, I think consistent practice with intention is what makes the biggest difference. See you on the tv yall
