Can I Take 2 Hiwi Jobs + 1 Werkstudent Job? Tax Class Question

Hey everyone,

I’m a master's student in Germany, and I’ve been offered two Hiwi (student assistant) jobs and one Werkstudent (working student) job. I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible to take on all three at the same time.

From what I’ve heard, Hiwi job working hours are not counted towards the 20-hour limit for student jobs. Is this true? If so, does that mean I can legally work all three without issues?

Also, I’d like to set my tax class to 1 for the Werkstudent job. What tax class should I choose for the two Hiwi jobs to optimize my taxes?

Lastly, I’ve heard that the 20-hour weekly limit for student jobs has been increased to 24 hours per week in 2024. Can anyone confirm if this is true and whether it applies to Werkstudent jobs?
