Minigames
Hello r/gamedev, i'm working on a casual game. Where to break up the pacing i would like to include minigames - and would love to hear your oppinions about games within games (minigames).
I am very inspired by the Patapon series, where addition rewards can be gained by playing small rythm games within the camp between doing missions. This element i would like to incorperate in my game, as the back-and-forth gameplay loop sets a great pace.
For me a great minigame rewards skill. Such as Fishing minigames (like in stardew valley), or simon says with memorisation etc.
Personally my favorite minigame is Gwent in Witcher 3, though it is out of scope for what i am working with.
I would love to hear if you have some memorable ones, or an opinion about what makes a good minigame.
