Flight left without us.

Me and my family were supposed to catch a flight out of LGA to RDU this morning with Frontier airlines. The airline canceled the flight an hour before take off due to a crew member getting sick. The plane took off and I tracked it on flightradar24 all the way to RDU. Why would they do that to us and everybody else that was supposed to take that flight?
