Canadian “Uncontrolled” Airports

Can someone point me to a good reference to better understand how Canada handles uncontrolled airports specifically for IFR aircraft?

I recently went to an uncontrolled Canadian airport with an “MF” frequency that handled a lot of services you’d get from a control tower (traffic advisories, IFR closure, clearance and release, etc…).

I also see there are Canadian airports that don’t have an “MF” but an “ATF” instead. If someone could highlight the differences between the two into relation to U.S. uncontrolled ops I’d appreciate it.

*I did attempt to pull this information from the Jepp airway manual but it didn’t clear much up for me
