What's an unfortunate pattern you noticed in Hollywood?
I'm either gonna sound racist or woke for saying this but...
Almost every time a Black Woman wins an Oscar their post-Oscar career is disappointing
As an actress Jennifer Hudson hasn't really made a splash since Dreamgirls; most of her movies afterwards were either in supporting/cameo roles or indies that came and went. One of her other attempts at winning an Oscar (Cats) was a disaster while the other one (Respect) quickly faded out of the public eye. In her defense her talk show seems to be going well so I guess she finally found her niche.
But Octavia Spencer has had a few good movies since winning the Oscar for The Help but the large majority of her work afterwards has come and gone.
Also Halle Berry's post-Oscar career wasn't exactly great despite Hollywood actually trying to make her a movie star and Catwoman pretty much killed her status as a movie star! (Gee another movie about cats where the actress was 38 at the time; weird...)
Mo'nique...well there was a lot of politics behind the scenes with that but when's the last time Gabourey Sidibe did anything big?
And we're seeing it again with Ariana DeBose; after winning the Oscar for West Side Story she hasn't been able to find any success afterwards! Not even being a Disney Princess did anything for her career!
There are a lot of systemic issues I'm sure that come with this that I am not smart or knowledgeable enough to really speak on but it is a shame...
