Best beginner quest modpacks.

Hi. I've really wanted to start doing modded minecraft fro a long, long while now, but im finding it quite hard to get into it. I've tried direwolf, but i wouldnt want to watch an entire 96 episode series yet, and he isnt doing anything which can help for beginners. I'm also looking for 1.12 , and I've tried piece of mind, but it doesn't really have some of the mods I am interested in. Any suggestions, or am I just going to try and learn it by myself?
