Travel cards and credit cards
Yesterday my agency sent an email to all employees. The gist of is was “if you have a travel card or credit card, think about protecting taxpayer dollars before making any kind of purchase. Ask yourself if it’s necessary!”
So first, of course I am deeply offended by this. And it’s also not the focus of my question/observation.
By sending this email to ALL employees, they are revealing they have no idea who they issued cards to. Meaning they have destroyed records, did not reference records, or are incompetent (or fired their MAs so have no idea how anything works anymore to go find that information, which links back to incompetent).
So my question to everyone else is - have you gotten similar full-enterprise blast emails about this? How widespread is this reveal of their lack of who has what government resources? Does this constitute some sort of workplace harassment since it was not targeted to people with cards issued? And does it count as I am sure we already signed some kind of acknowledgement and have to justify all purchases anyways?
And for those with travel cards to use public transportation to get to work, be wary. I see this being a play to start firing people who “suddenly have transportation issues and refuse to get to work” by their own design.
