Phishing Site disguised as Messenger: Account got stolen due to my naivety
Hurts my ass considering that I am a Comp Sci student...
Note: I used a laptop for this
Posting for awareness, here's the fake Messenger link: https://www.messenger.com/login.php?next=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.messenger.com%2Fe2ee%2Ft%2F7575350852585104
This right above is a phishing site, clicking it won't install malware on your device, inputting your credentials will get your account stolen since they will use the inputted credentials onto the legitimate facebook/messenger sites. Hence stealing the information for themselves, that's phishing for those who doesn't know.
Note that the legitimate site doesn't have any of the other extensions in the URL and is just: https://www.messenger.com
You'll notice the difference since the first has a different UI the the original. I was wondering what I did wrong for my account to get stolen, then i back-tracked my activities and thought, "oh yeah, why did I had to relog into my account on a device that already had access to it", then yeah, I checked my browser history and clicked on every link of messenger and facebook there, Had an immediate hunch since I never clicked on any link while I was using my account. So, yeah, beware...
Hoping to get verified by meta to get my account back even if it means paying for the subscription JUST TO GET CUSTOMER SUPPORT.
