Are we in a German Renaissance?

One thing I’ve noticed recently is that Germany seems to be on an upward trajectory in terms of their results, is this a coincidence or has NDR finally started proving their worth as a Big-5 country?

I’d say this renaissance started in 2023, and sure Germany still got last in that year but I think the common consensus is that Lord of the Lost were robbed and deserved better than last - my theory is that because the people who’d typically vote for LotL would have got swept up by likes of Kaarija and Voyager but Blood & Glitter still proved to be Germany’s best song since 2018

2024 marked the start in a results sense as Isaak’s 12 place came as a massive jump given the Germany of recent with a song that was pretty unlike others in the year and with a staging that was memorable and not over the top, a nice middle ground

2025 having Baller by Abor & Tynna be their entrant seems that this trend would continue in an similar, if not upward, pattern with it being one of the better songs this year. I don’t want to start throwing theories around but I think the significance and impact that albums like Charli XCX’s brat had proved how good the dance genre can be and Baller fits right into this vibe and mood. I just pray that NDR don’t mess up the staging because Baller is in my top-3 for this year and I really hope it does well come May, plus it has the additional factor of being in German which is always a great thing to have a song in the country’s native language
