Is Trade Republic’s 4% interest compound or simple?

Apologies if this is a dumb question, I started investing recently and saw that Trade Republic has 4% interest rate on savings. They pay out monthly so I was wondering if the interest is compounded or is just calculated on the initial amount you have.
