Walkie communication tips / suggestions

Have a lot of newer employees coming in (and tons more on the way) and we know how Kohl's is on training ... so here's a few of my top tips, suggestions, and requests for when using the walkie:

1) To speak, first make sure no one else is talking. Then hold down the mike button and wait an entire second at least before speaking (or else the first part of what you say gets cut off).

2) It's great to call for help! But unless you say who you are, where you are, and/or what you need - I can't do much. Simply saying into the walkie "I need help." doesn't tell us much. "This is Sandy, I'm at amazon and need help with my zebra." - that will get me there pronto so you get the help you need. At POC "I need a manager for an override at misses POC." requires a different response from a different person than "I need additional backup to misses POC, line is wrapping around the corner."

3) The store (at least ours) is huge. As a floor associate, I'm already walking 8+ miles a day. Please don't call me up to the register to tell me what you could say over the walkie. If you need a Cuisinart 14 cup programable coffee maker for a customer exchanging a broken one - then say that. Read me the sku or upc or just the exact words off the box. Don't ask me to come to customer service from the back of the store just to read the box and have to walk all the way to the back of the store again, get the item, then walk all the way back up with it.

4) Same with price checks or upc requests - details help! Floor associates at least need to know what department so we know which of us needs to respond.

5) Walkies let us communicate - so please do so :) If you're going to pick up a call, respond to a call box, or backup request - let everyone know so we're not wondering who / if someone's going to get it.

6) When you put your walkie away at the end of your shift, please turn it off.

7) Final pro tip - do not, do not, do not wear an earpiece with your walkie when doing truck (you'll get it caught sooner or later). Meanwhile, yes wear an earpiece and walkie everywhere else.

Anyone got some others?
