Pop Trash Vs Astronaut
This is just my opinion of course, but I'm curious to see if anyone else feels the same way. I 'm doing my annual listen of all Duran Duran's albums, and one thing that I've noticed is that as time goes by my appreciation for Astronaut goes down. At the time I loved it, but now I think it's aged quite poorly in parts. Especially with the songs Bedroom Toys and Taste The Summer, that the hell were they thinking? Especially when they ditched the likes of Beautiful Colours and Salt In The Rainbow. If anything Pop Trash has stood the test of time better I think when it comes to the songs and the production by Nick and Warren (TV Mania) and it's actually grown on me a hell of a lot more, and I now hold it in higher regard than Astronaut. Don't get me wrong, Astronaut does contain some brilliant songs such as What Happens Tomorrow and Want You More and it was nice to have Roger return and Andy, albeit briefly. But overall I think Astronaut as a whole is just a bang average album, they definitely could have done better.
