Upstairs Neighbor’s Bass Is Ruining My Life – No Solutions Are Working
I’m at my wit’s end and really need advice. I’ve lived in my apartment for three years without any complaints, and the issues only started when a new neighbor moved in directly above me a couple of months ago. I now constantly feel deep bass vibrations in my ears, chest, and even through my pillow at night. The strange part? I don’t hear any music or typical noise, just the physical sensation of low-frequency bass, just enough to keep you from sleeping.
I’ve confirmed the source is my neighbor upstairs because everything was perfectly fine before they moved in, and the vibrations started right after. The guy seems to have something playing most of the day and almost all through the night, I reckon he puts something on and goes to sleep or something. I reached out to the neighbor to discuss it diplomatically, but they have blocked me on WhatsApp, closing all lines of communication. I can’t exactly call the cops because the noise isn’t loud—it’s just deep vibrations I feel more than hear. My building management hasn’t been helpful either.
I’ve tried everything: noise-canceling headphones, pink/brown noise, earplugs, rearranging my furniture, adding rugs, isolation pads, and even experimenting with different pillows and sleeping positions. I’ve also tried recording the audio and using apps to detect the vibrations, but with no luck—nothing seems to register the bass. Nothing works. The bass is still affecting my sleep and sanity.
At this point, I feel completely helpless. The lack of sleep is affecting my life and work significantly. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Are there any solutions I haven’t tried? I just want my apartment to feel like a home again, not a subwoofer enclosure.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
