National Day Crowd Control

Yesterday in downtown I noticed there was crowd control security check points everywhere saying only families can enter. No single men.

It seemed mostly the low wage workers were being turned away. Some of them were getting upset. Also some single Russians got caught up.

I’m a tourists visiting with my wife but I was walking alone and was turned away too but managed to talk my way through.

Is this normal for every holiday? Seemed unfair but some security was telling me if they didn’t do this then the workers will flood the area as it’s their day off.

Update: After reading the comments. I now understand the logic behind this. Sad but understandable.
