Moving to Dubai - No Drivers Licence
I move to Dubai at the end of this month and don't have a drivers licence in my home country (UK). I have a few questions:
Is doing a taxi to and from work each day crazy? I may try and taxi into my work (approx 15 minute drive from my initial hotel) and figure out the metro on the way home.
What are the different kinds of taxis available? I'm familiar with Uber which seems to be the most expensive, then there is Careem (another app) and street taxis/not pre-booked?
Is walking to/from the office from the metro station (say 10-15 minutes) a bad idea in the Summer?
A lot of my questions are around the same thing and broadly worrisome that I'm moving to a car-dependent city and only have the option of paying a fortune on multiple taxis per day, or burning myself trying to navigate around the Metro. If any residents and locals have any tips or thoughts I'd love to hear!
