RT-30k can't reach head

Hi,

Have a roland vad504. Cut a long story short, the kick is quite loud for an ekit (big shell I imagine). Decided to swap out the og kick head for a remo silent stroke and an rt 30k trigger. Problem now is the kick hoop is quite thick so the trigger doesn't reach the drum head. So I either need to buy a narrower kick hoop or cut a notch out of the current one. Am I missing something?
