1980s Yamaha snare

Found a vintage Yamaha snare at a store in Japan. It's in pretty good condition, just needs new heads and to be tuned up. Can't seem to find any info on the web about it and was hoping for some input.

The serial number is SD355C. It is steel on the outside and wood inside, possibly birch. It has an internal damper. They are selling it for around $100.

Does anyone have any info on this drum? Sound quality? Is it a worthwhile purchase? (It's cheap, but worth lugging it home)
