Dragon Age 2 deserved better
Yeah, the copy-paste dungeons sucked, and the rushed dev cycle shows. But DA2 did what most RPGs struggle with, it told a tight, character-driven story. You weren’t a ‘chosen one’ saving the world; you were just Hawke, stuck in a city on the brink, trying (and often failing) to keep things together.
The companions? Top tier. Varric’s loyalty, Aveline’s lawful stubbornness, Fenris’ trauma-fueled rage, Isabela’s wild-card energy. Everyone felt fully realized, flawed, and human. And the mage vs. templar war? Way messier than Origins’ good vs. evil setup.
Combat was fast, punchy, and let me dual-wield like a boss. The banter? Elite. Was DA2 perfect? Nah. But was it a damn good RPG that got unfairly trashed? Absolutely.
Been replaying it lately, and yeah, it still holds up. Tell me I’m wrong.
