You need prescription for buying insulin every time?

Just curious of how it works in different parts of the world. But do u guys need prescription to get insulin? Cause here we don't u can just go to pharmacy and get the kind of meds u want. For context I use mdi and have gotten various kinds of insulin without needing a proper written note after the first time. (I have switched on doctor's advice from various brands - novorapid, humalog lispro, lantus glargine and degludec)
