Hi newbie warlock here, does anyone have any good suggestions for exotic kinetic weapons?

Started playing 2-3 days ago for the first time and just hit the soft cap. I currently don’t have any attunment shards or anything to actually use the monument to buy an exotic, but I can’t help but look and wonder which one would be best. I like hand cannons, bows, and submachine guns the best so far, but honestly have no idea which exotic would be good for both strikes and pvp modes. I kinda just get dumpstered in crucible and I notice everyone can 2 shot with hand cannons and shotguns. Any advice or help for armor, weapons, or just general tips would be awesome!

Ps. I don’t know much about the different factions except warlocks finish last, but the memes about the warlocks are hilarious!
