Making Back-Country Camping meals
Hi everyone, im looking for some advice on making meals for my backcountry trips. I usually do 2-4 day trips backpacking and i usually go with 3 friends & 2 canoes so we tend to pack heavy. In trying to reduce some weight since we carry coolers with canned foods, i want to try to make camping meals.
I have a 4 tray Excaliber dehydrator that i tend to use to make dog treats. Im wondering when you want to make meals like soups for example, do you guys dehydrate every single ingredient separately? Like if i get green beans this week and dehydrate them all and store in a bag, and next week dehydrate carrots can i just throw them together in a bag with some chicken stock and make a soup? Or would it be better making the soup and dehydrating all together?
Also would i cook the green beans or produce prior to dehydrator or let it cook after i throw it together
