Why does the Soul of Cinders attack us?

i.e. why must the first flame be protected?

Shouldn't SoC / FF / whatever is responsible for the creation of SoC want the first flame to be linked?

I do not believe it is about protecting agaisnt the great betreyal / usurpation of fire, since you being strong enough to overcome SoC doesn't say anything about your intentions.

So while SoC / FF should want the first flame to be linked, it could've been that they canonically stop any ashen one who attempts it. And so the FF dies out needlessly.

Is this addressed anywhere I'm not aware of?
