Do I (average joe) can/need to do anything to protect myself from the Log4j vulnerability?

Hi all,

As the topic says, are there any steps a regular user can take to prevent this vulnerability causing harm to his/her computer, or do you really need a computer science degree to do anything that makes sense in this case?

With steam listed under affected programs, is it better to deinstall it, or twitter for that matter, stop using chrome, ...
