The Beast In Me: Last Race (Spoiler)

Just finished the last race where you have to choose between finishing the race or taking out a specific dude. Ended up taking out literally all the other racers, including the dude, but couldn't head back and finish the race. Since my car is the only one left, firmly believe I should have been able to let the cinematic play and then head back to complete the rest of the race. :(

Maybe I missed some dialog option or is this a simple oversight?

Edit: I'll review the dialog again. Least it's a personal achievement to not allow anyone to win the race if I'm not.
