Canada vs UK for senior level software engineer?

I get it's tough all over the world at the moment, but I'm currently based in the UK and the market is awful here. I have permanent resident status in Canada and am wondering if it's any better there? Last time I checked (many years ago) London was well ahead of any Canadian city. Have the tables turned?
