[QUESTION] Commission references

Hi! I’ve never commissioned someone before and I’ve been thinking about commissioning someone for a few of my OCs. I was just wondering if there’s something artists prefer when it comes to OCs with no art already, if that makes sense? I’m sorry if this question is stupid lmfao I’m just a little nervous.
