Is it rude to leave the graduation ceremony after you've walked while the ceremony is still going on?

So I was one of the first set of people to walk the stage and get my diploma during the beginning of this process. After I walked, I noticed that people were leaving the building as the walking part of the ceremony has just begun, and it's likely that they're not coming back. 5 minutes later, I get a text message from my parents to get out there to take pictures with them before the outside of the building gets crowded. And with me being alone with no friends to talk to or wait for the people I know to walk, I just up and left. Looking back, I'm starting to think this is possibly rude and should've wait for watching other people walking the stage, even though I was already impatient at people giving speeches during the ceremony.
