AI in Strategy games thought dump
Hey everyone!
I was recently watching a review/preview of the upcoming civilization game, and the reviewer mentioned how it was difficult really to assess AI in the game. It got me thinking, what makes good AI in a strategy game? Sometimes I just feel like people expect it to be perfect but if it was perfect then you would never win. Also, do we really want a civilization game where the AI is that good? Lastly, how long do you think it could take for an AI or reasoning model to beat the best civilization players in their own game? Personally, the last question worries me because if an AI could beat a top 10 Civilization player then I would start to get worried tbh.
