Why does a character sometimes jump off the wall not straight up, but up and sideway?
EDIT: Thank you all, it turned out that I automatically released the grip button simultaneously with pressing the jump button. Getting back to almost-one-hundred-percent Celeste replay :)
I've encountered major skill issues.
I completed Celeste 100% (except for the golden berries) a year or two ago, and now I wanted to replay the game. However, I've encountered a problem I never had before: sometimes, completely by random, when I grab onto the wall and want to jump straight up (1 in the screenshot), the character jumps up to the left instead (2 in the screenshot).
I can't figure out what determines the direction of the jump in this case (and similar ones). I thought it depended on the buttons pressed (I tried pressing only "Up" or "Up" + "Right", etc.), then I thought it depended on how long I was clinging to the wall, thinking that if I jumped IMMEDIATELY after grabbing the wall, the character would jump up to the left. I also assumed that, for example, on the very edge (upper left corner of the stone), the character might jump differently than just on the wall (left side of the stone). BUT NONE OF THIS AFFECTS THE DIRECTION OF THE JUMP.
I seriously don’t understand what I’m doing wrong, and why this problem didn't even exist at all in my last playthrough :(
