Law Enforcement Information Specialist positions?

I was perusing USAJOBS and noticed a few of these positions pop up. While the duties in these positions look up my alley (heavily based on the analysis of law enforcement intelligence), they mostly seem to be positioned in odd rural areas, e.g. small towns that are in border states but not actually within an hour's driving distance of the border or any ports of entry.

Has anyone here worked in one of these positions? What are they like? Are the locations these positions seem to be based in more of a burden or a comfort for you?
