Advice on Choosing a Minor, MCAT Prep, and Career Paths in Biological Sciences?
I'm an incoming freshman at UVM, pursuing a B.S. in Biological Science with a strong interest in genetics, especially cancer biology. I’m trying to plan ahead and have a few questions:
- Choosing a Minor: How do I decide on a minor, and how much does it impact future career opportunities?
- Studying Ahead: Since I’m on a gap year, what are some resources or strategies to build a solid foundation before starting university?
- MCAT Prep: When is the right time to start studying for the MCAT, and what are the best resources or study strategies?
- Certifications: Would it be beneficial to get certifications like BLS or CPR during my gap year? Do they provide a significant advantage for future opportunities?
- Career Path: I’m considering both MD and pharmacy but am concerned about the length of medical school. I’ve come across the option of earning a bachelor’s in pharmacy followed by an MBA in healthcare management, which could open doors in the pharmaceutical industry. How do these paths compare in terms of career prospects?
I’d appreciate any advice or insights. Thanks for your help!
