Some career advice?

I'm 17 and I don't know what to be when I grow up, I'm 18 in a few months. I wanna do research in social sciences or science. I wanna be passionate abt whatever I do but I don't wanna be broke. I've heard pay is quite low in research, long working hours andmostd don't work a job that requiretheirs knowledge they spent all those years studying. People around me are saying to work in finance or cs anythingt acc that makes a lot of money) I'm rlly passionate abt sciences abt I'm a bit conflicted now. I'm also interest in AI.
