Is knowing Microsoft Office a valuable skill for my professional life?

I've been going through a tough period in my life, financially speaking. I was giving informal English classes for some time, but it was pretty unstable. I've realized I don't want to live off teaching. I'm currently trying to find a formal job and slowly change my path. Microsoft Office is something I've always heard about from lots of people, especially Excel. So I got myself some pretty complete courses on Excel, Word and PowerPoint. I even started the Excel one some days ago. I don't love it, like I loved learning English, for example. But I've been getting some satisfaction while slowly making progress on Excel. I'm also somewhat looking forward to getting to an advanced level with these tools. But in your opinion, is it worth it? Will really knowing how to use these three programs give any kind of boost to my curriculum or is it the bare minimum? By the way, I live in Brazil.
