Switching careers?

I currently work in sales and have been most of my adult career now recently turning 27. However I realized I want to make a change in careers and no longer feeling fulfilled or happy working in sales. My plan to is to enter the tech industry by being a self taught developer and building relationships in the industry. Since my expenses are really low with no family or to take care of and I'm single l'Il even temporarily downgrade my job at this point to have more time and energy to devote to leaning and relationship building. The only thing is I'll be making significantly less money working a lower paying job. If you been through something similar or have any advice you'll like to share. Please share your input.

Edit: I'm currently learning the developer path now with my FT job, but it's extremely stressful and energy draining
