What was your study technique?

I’m considering studying for the CAPM exam and am currently unemployed so I’d be able to devote a decent amount of time to it. I’m stuck in the new(-ish) grad trap of having the education and some experience but not enough to be a stand-out applicant, so I’m hoping this certification and its knowledge will help make me more competitive for the jobs I’m interested in. After looking through the content on Udemy and the PMBOK Guide, almost all of it is new stuff to me and I’m kinda lost on how to study for it properly. I have a BA degree and got good grades, so I know how to study well at the university level and take exams, but I feel lost getting started with this stuff. In university, I’d usually take detailed notes on lectures and the textbook/readings then review them and take study notes before an exam, but I’m not sure if I can organize it that way for this. I need to somehow learn all this new content and remember it, so I’m wondering what everyone else’s study methods have been.

Right now, my plan is to treat the Udemy course like a lecture, and use the PMBOK Guide as a textbook (especially for learning new terms), then take practice exams until I feel ready to take the real exam. What have your strategies been and how well did they turn out?
