Sony FDR-AX43 touchscreen not working

My sony camera is about 18 months old. worked perfect in the spring. i open it up to use it and it comes one. works great. i go to press on the screen and the touchscreen isn’t working. everything else works perfect. the touch screen does not work. contacted sony support and the only thing they told me is that they could not repair it or it would cost $380 to repair it.
