Multi-purpose System - $3000+ budget

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

  • I use my PC for gaming (modern titles and MMOs), I use it as a Plex server (transcoding and serving multiple streams to users), and I use it for photo/video editing (photoshop, after effects, etc)

What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

  • Budget is flexible, I am willing to spend $3000 or more to future proof.

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

  • Immediately. If the parts are available on Amazon then I will place the order today or tomorrow.

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)

  • I only want the system included. No KB, Mouse, or monitor.

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

  • U.S. - Western New York, no microcenter. I would prefer Amazon for all the parts, but I have ordered from Newegg in the past and don't mind using them if necessary, I just really like the prime 2 day shipping and I am impatient.

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

  • I have a Full tower case (NZXT Switch 810 ATX Full tower) that I would like to use. I also have a Seasonic X series 1050W 80+ gold certified power supply. I plan on buying an ultrawide curved monitor to use with this system.

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

  • I have never overclocked but thats not to say that the mood may not strike some day, so if we can keep it as an option for down the line that would be great.

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)

  • So, I use the system as a Plex media server and would like to have one SSD for OS and program installations and then at least 2, but preferably 3, very large capacity drives (mechanical should be OK) for media storage and moving things around.

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

  • I already have a full tower case, as noted above. I don't care about colors or lights or any other aesthetics.

Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

  • Windows 10 professional please

Extra info or particulars:

I am struggling to come up with a build on my own here mainly due to the variety of uses. I want this system to kick butt at modern and future games, but I also need it to be amazing at intensive tasks like transcoding and serving 3 1080p video streams to my Plex users.

Thanks for your time

Edit - I also dont mind that its a bit overkill. 4 years ago I built this system:

and I never truly pushed it to its potential but I have always enjoyed knowing that I had such a capable system at my desk.
