So.. Keep 1080Ti and pair with a 9950X3D? (Productivity Build)
I was planning on buying the 5070 Ti but after today's reviews and price hike... it's looking like a no. I have a 1080Ti and I'm really looking to start a new build. Really need a clean slate.
I'm currently using an i7-7700K CPU and 64GB DDR4@3200MHz
My main uses of my PC are:
- Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom (4K-8K resolution images, plenty of layers & adjustments), occasional Premiere & light use of After Effects
- Ableton Live 11 with many VST plugins (CPU-intensive)
- Casual 4K gaming (Forza, MSFS, Cyberpunk, Far Cry, GTA, etc.) - I understand the lack of performance increase here if sticking with the 1080Ti. This is less important for now and will come when I eventually upgrade GPU
Specs I'm proposing:
- GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080Ti
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9950X3D
- Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 chromax black
- RAM: 64GB (2x 32) DDR5-6000 CL30
- Mobo: MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI
- Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 4TB M.2 (already purchased on Black Friday)
- PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 1200W (future proofing)
- Case: Fractal North XL
Has anyone had experience with this sort of combo? (brand new top CPU, ~8 year old GPU) Will I still see a worthwhile increase in my typical PC usage?
