Five weeks for first available appointment

I was finally able to get an appointment scheduled with a breast specialist. I’ve been trying to get this for two weeks and finally spoke to someone who found my referral. The people responsible for adding these to patient charts were not putting them in the correct place.

The soonest they could fit me in was September 28th.

Is this normal? I really don’t want to wait quite that long with the symptoms I’m having.
