Lubitsch/Wilder/Sturges
I posted my wilder shelf a year ago and since then I was sure to check out Lubitsch due to Wilder's praise of him, as well as another great comedy director in Preston Sturges. If you haven't checked out any of these three, I highly recommend at least what I've seen of them.
Wilder favorites: One, Two, Three is my favorite of his but everything I have I would rate highly with Seven Year Itch being easily the weakest, with Avanti and Irma La Douce being brought down due to being a bit too long.
Sturges: Favorite is Palm Beach Story with the rest being great as well except for Beutifaul Blonde from Bashful Bend which is easily his weakest entry.
Lubitsch: Haven't seen his silents yet with the exception of the Doll but love all his sound films, though I wasn't as blown away by Design for Living. Was sick when I watched it though so will give that another watch. Also If I had a Million shouldn't really be here but need something there that qualified.
