Blender is freezing, idk what else to try

Hey!

So I just started following this year's Donut Tutorial by Blender Guru and I am only in the second video, when I reach the proportional editing bit...and my Blender completely freezes. I am completely unable to do anything or click anything, and can only quit it with the task manager. Otherwise I can't even close the window.

Steps I followed to try to fix this that didn't help:

  • I started over without adding the modifiers
  • Uninstalled and re-installed Blender (even downloading it again from their page)
  • Only using Blender with no other windows/apps opened.
  • Restarted my computer
  • Cleared cache
  • Freed up space
  • Looked for a solution everywhere, from youtube comments to some other very similar threads in this reddit.

These are my computer specs:

  • MacBook Pro 2020
  • Processor: 2,3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
  • Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB
  • Memory: 16 GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4X
  • macOS: 14.1.2

From what I've seen in my search, this computer might not be the best tool for 3D... but it should be doable since it's not a very complicated work...

I should add I have no previous knowledge of Blender or any 3D software. But I really want to learn and this problem is very discouraging. If the problem is my computer, then I don't have the resources to buy a better one, and it's also fairly new so idk... I hope that's not it.

Please, do try to help me, I wanna be one of y'all :(
