DirectX error crash got worse with update

I've been getting the DirectX crash since I started playing around Christmas. I'm very lucky if I get an hour without a crash. I saw in the patch notes they were going to fix "loading screen crash" and I got hopeful. But after the update I can't seem to even get past the main menu without a DirectX crash.

Anyone else still having this issue? I've tried all sorts and am thinking about giving up on the game
