Let's not be naive, if LeBron wins the NBA Championship this year, there is ZERO chance Bill counts it as a real title.
I know I know Bill has said the opposite a few times about how legitimate this years playoffs will be historically, but hes only saying that in case Boston wins, or theres a winner with a narrative he wants to accept (or as we have come to learn about Bill and his omitting and rewriting of history, an agenda he wants to set). Hes waiting to see it play out.
Bill doesnt even fully accept LeBrons actual championships. Ray Allen shot doesnt really count. Vs OKC the Heat were older and so much better (despite being underdogs but Bill dismisses this as well), Vs Golden State Draymond missed game 5 of the 7 game series. All those have been deemed questionable or flat out invalidated according to Bill.
If LeBron won this year, not a chance Bill counts it, and he'll say "I know I said before that this years playoffs were legitimate but I didnt know _______ (some 9th guy on some 6th seed) was going to miss it due to the virus and hes really good against the Lakers. You could make an argument they would've won that series." Meanwhile if an Anti-LeBron/Pro Celtics outcome happens, Bill will count it as a full Championship and never again mention the circumstances (Toronto won a championship that saw Kevin Durant out with a torn Achilles and Klay Thompson tear his ACL, Bill never mentions this when he claims Kawhi won the Championship)
Bill Simmons is a one trick pony. Sliding Doors opinionist. He decides what SHOULD have happened, according to him, and uses that instead of what ACTUALLY happened to frame NBA history. Bill quite literally believes his feelings on what SHOULD have happened throughout NBA history is what should count over actual outcomes. LeBron winning this year will just be another example.
