Best Olympics Ever?

Has this been the best Olympics ever? Can’t remember an Olympics this good overall during my lifetime. Consider the drama/sheer quality of the sporting events plus some of the greatest athletes we’ve ever seeing putting on legendary swan song performances:

  • USA wins bball in epic gold medal game following 4th quarter comeback in semi-final. Curry all-time performance to win his only gold, LeBron and Durant also come up huge, capping off what feels like the unofficial end to this era.

  • Djokovic beats Alcaraz in absolutely classic gold medal match, beats Nadal en route to his only gold medal. In doing so secures the last remaining significant tennis title and in process beats his greatest rival and the future of the sport, capping off what feels like the unofficial end to this era.

  • Biles completes comeback following Tokyo, in process cements herself as greatest gymnast of all time.

  • Lyles wins 100M by the smallest of margins, follows up with bronze in 200M while sick with covid.

  • USA men’s gymnastics taking the bronze.

Not to even mention the continued brilliance of Katy Ledecky or the extremely memeable events like the Turkish and Chinese shooters or the Australian breaker.
