Lower back pain during and after hinging movements.
Lower back pain during hinging movements and afterwards.
I (18M) have been working out for about a year and a half and had worked up to pretty decent numbers around April '23.
I've recently had to cut back severely on my weights in all exercises aswell as adjust form for almost everything, but i find that hinging movements, even though i'm lifting half of what i was lifting under a year ago cause me a lot of discomfort in my lower back. It's not a sharp pain but a dull ache that has remained for a month if not more.
I have a suspicion that this has come from overloading my lower back during deadlifts as I think i was lifting more with it than my hamstrings aswell as leaning forward during heavy squats, which i've also now had to cut way back and change the form.
I'm not completely sure what way to go from here as noting online describes my issue perfectly as i don't think it's a nerve based pain which would imply a disc issue. Between this and damaging my shoulder ive basically lost all my lifting progress while remaining at the same weight which is extremely demotivating. My bench has gone from 130kg to 100kg 1RM, Deadlift 230kg to 140kg 1RM and squat 140kg to 70kg WS.
I don't believe this is due to muscle weakness but stems from these two specific issues. I'd like advice on what body parts i maybe need to strengthen? another detail is that i can do a 3min plank and 25kg weighted sit-ups with my feet under a object, but i can't even do one BW sit-up unassisted by a object.
I'm 6,3 98kg with a longer back, if that info helps aswell.
