Occupational therapy as an adult?

Hi! Looking for experiences from others here.

I’m a 20 y/o living independently, and I just started going to a doctor who brought up their occupational therapy program for adults on the spectrum, and told me to let him know if I’d be interested in it.

I feel like it could be really beneficial for me to do it, but the problem that I’m running into is that I don’t really know what I would work on that would be beneficial. Like, I already live alone semi-successfully. I know how to cook and clean and do hygiene tasks, the problem I run into is initiating and executing them and keeping a schedule to do those things at regular intervals. I’ve never done OT (or any other therapy for autism for that matter), so I’m not really sure if that’s in their realm of stuff they can help with or if since I know like physically how to cook and clean my apartment, they couldn’t really do anything about the part of executing those tasks.

I’m also in college and struggle a lot with making friends and keeping up with going to class and homework (my executive functioning is seriously at an all time low, I can’t initiate like any tasks). I’m not sure if they could help with that? I’m also worried that they might take “I want to get better at making friends” to mean “please teach me how to mask even more than I already do so I can get even more burnt out”.

Anyway, advice or experiences with OT as an already semi-functional adult, would love to hear it.
