California Brush Fires

I’m scrolling tiktok and my FYP is filled with the devastating videos of the fires in CA. Genuinely so upsetting to see and I feel so deeply for the ones affected. But looking at the comments it bewilders me. Thousands of families lost their homes, belongings, life long memories, and so far 5 LIVES have been lost. The comments will be filled with things like “praying for California 🙏🏼” or even crazier stuff like “God is testing the citizens and making them used to tragedy” or “God is taking out the place with the most sinners” WHAT?????? WHAT??!!!! The fires are being caused from the lack of rain (dry plants) and climate change. I cannot even fathom thinking what it seems like half of these people are saying/thinking. How can people think a God exists when stuff like this happens? How can you turn to a God and ask for help when the brave firefighters are risking their lives to try and help. If God was real, these fires wouldn’t have happened. If God was real, he wouldn’t discriminate the “sinners” or whatever the fuck. Turning to an “all powerful God” during a time like this may feel comforting, but it’s almost immature and disappointing.
