Why use they/them but also identify yourself as afab?

Saw a post with someone introducing themself as such. Seems contradictory to mention your AGAB when you're nonbinary. Maybe I'm missing something?

Note that I don't introduce myself as trans. I only tell people I'm trans when it's relevant. Otherwise it isn't their business.
