What’s the most unrealistic or impractical thing you’ve seen in gay sitcoms/movies/web series?
Hey GayBros,
I’ve been binge-watching a lot of gay-themed shows and movies lately since decades, and while they’re entertaining, some things feel way too unrealistic or impractical compared to real-life LGBTQ+ experiences.
For instance, there’s the classic “sassy highly feminine gay best friend” trope that reduces queer characters to comic relief, or relationships that magically resolve every conflict in one episode. And don’t even get me started on how everyone seems to live in glamorous condos without ever worrying about money. Oh, and coming-out stories that end with instant acceptance and zero fallout? Yeah, not exactly relatable. they actually push stereotypes
What are some moments or tropes in gay media that made you roll your eyes or think, “This would never happen in real life”?
Are there any shows or movies you think nailed the realism of queer life? i found low budget gay movies projecting queers in better way
Let’s discuss!
